Oil palm agriculture has emerged as the greatest immediate threat to biodiversity in Southeast Asia, having resulted in the conversion of millions of acres of forest.__Moreover, it_is increasingly being planted in other tropical countries in Africa and South Africa as well._ I will discuss the impacts of oil palm agriculture on biodiversity in Borneo, as well as the pros and cons of different strategies for addressing the threat it poses to biodiversity._ I conclude by comparing the effects of oil palm agriculture to the effects of intensive logging. _
