The role dispersal vectors play for plant species is especially significant when considering biological invasions and global change. Many species we consider to be invasive in Centre County and the surrounding area are dispersed by birds, which influence the dispersal process through selection. Given this selection process, seed dispersal through birds could influence the vegetation structure in the area, and thus the spread of certain species. We are looking at the links between the current plant community in a fragmented landscape, the seeds that arrive in those communities, and the role the birds play in dispersing the available seeds to new places using a network approach. From this we can determine whether or not birds play a role in increasing the seed rain of less abundant plant species.
